Panajachel has long been a place foreigners have lived. The beauty of the area and the cost of living here are hard to match anywhere in the world.

There are great schools (one teaching in English) and sooner or later there will be high speed internet connections. It's a great place for retirees or families.

Ralph and Leo have lived here for years. Ralph came from Germany (and speaks German, English, Spanish and French) twenty years ago.

Leo is Guatemalan and knows the country as only a native can. Her father is a lawyer and she understands how the legal system in this country works.

Between them they have years of experience in local real estate. Being as they have the only real estate office in the Atitlan region if they do not have a property listed it probably isn't for sale.

They can find you a house or apartment if you are looking to rent and will supervise the construction of new buildings.

  Tip: Buying land in Guatemala can be tricky. Unlike Mexico, non-Guatemalans may own land, but Guatemalan law can be quite different to what you are used to.
Property lines can be unclear (there are no benchmarks in Guatemala) and disagreements between neighbors and even family members are not uncommon.
Also there are a few out-and-out scam artists who'll happily sell you a piece of property that isn't theirs to sell.
