About Us:
If you are dreaming about an absolutely unique, undiscovered adventure come to the heart of Belize in Dangriga in Southern Belize, and stay in a Mayan village. Tutzil Nah Cottages is not developed, on occasion, you maybe the only guest. But, no matter, whether you're alone, or in a group, the Chun family gives you attention as only we can.
We Gregorio, Ouscal, Julian have over 12 years of guiding experience. And the rest our family will be happy and proud to share our knowledge. We grew up in the traditional Mayan way, living in the jungle of what is now the Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve. We will share with you our knowledge of the birds, plants we eat or use for medicine in the jungle - our home. Vidalia, Gregorio's wife, is a very good cook, offering traditional Mayan and Belize food.
Facilities & Services:
We offer two very clean, cottages with Door and window screened, 24-hour electricity, standing fans, mosquito nets upon request, a sink/ shared bathroom facility with a flush toilet and share shower "no hot water for shower". Each cottage has two separate rooms for double or single persons.

Rates:
Rates are: Double $25.68 Single $16.05 including 7% Government Tax.
Meals: Ranging from $6.00 to $12.00.
Dessert included with lunch and dinner.
We also have bottled water, sodas,and fresh juices.

Day Trips:
Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve Nature walks: Bird watching, plant and insect identification, Tube floating, swim in the jungle waterfall maybe possibility of seeing Howler Monkey, Peccary, Quatimundi or maybe even one of the wild cat species.

Night Hike:
Fireflies dancing along the path the silence and darkness of the Cockscomb jungle with your torchlight, chances of hearing Howler Monkey howling and chances of sightings of pacca, Kinkajou, Peccary, Anteater and maybe a jaguar or other cat species .

May Flower Bocawina National Park hike:
Hike to the Antelope Falls waterfalls or hike a steep trail along a lush creek to a waterfall at the top and a spectacular view.

Red Bank hike:
A hike to see the Scarlet Macaw

River Tours by motor boat:
Fishing spotting Birding, Iguanas and swimming

Cockscomb river kayaking:
Run the Cockscomb jungle river in the Stearns latest one-person soft shell kayak. Floating through the dense jungle canopy, spotting Birds, Iguanas, and flowering plants, kingfishers darting in the water. On most trips we do see four legged animals on the riverside.

Back Packing Expeditions:
Overnight Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve Hike. Walk deep into the jungle identifying track, birds, wildlife, plants, trees en-route. At 3:00am go on a night hike where fireflies dance along the waterway. Your screened tent will be provided and pitched on a bed of Cohune Palm leaves. Bottled water and all food will be packed in by Manuel a delightful porter who is learning to be a guide.

DAY TRIPS:
Belize Zoo, Belmopan City, Capital of Belize:
Drive to visit what is considered the world's best zoo for display of animals in their "close to wild habitat". See the capital City and visit the market.

Xunantunich and Cahal Pech Mayan Ceremonial Temples Tour, Drive to a hand-cranked ferry crossing the Mopan River. Ruins date back to 600 to 1000AD almost fully excavated.
Price: 2 people $120 /person, 3-6 people - $95.
Lubantun and Num Li Punit Mayan Ruins in Southern Belize. Another ceremonial center, now partially reclaimed by the jungle. Oldest ruin in Belize - 721AD

Reservation Policy:
A non-refundable 10% deposit with the Tropical Travel Association is required in order to confirm your reservation. The 90% balance is due to the hotel upon arrival. In special circumstances Tutzil Nah Cottages has the right to apply additional requirements as long as they do so before the 10% deposit is paid.
Of Special Note:
Although our main language is Mopan Mayan, we are all fluent in English. See the country side, We will pick you up at the airport in Belize City; drive you down the Hummingbird highway, transporting you from savanna through the green hills of the Maya Mountain to the Maya Center village, adjacent to the Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve. Your tours and treks will be absolutely personalized to your interests.
For avid bird watchers, you could go into the Preserve to hear Julian point out and call to the birds in their songs. Or you could hike into the jungle on 1or 2-day expeditions, rising at 3:00am to learn about the creatures of the night. Run the Stann Creek of the Cockscomb Basin in Stearn's latest one-person soft shell kayak. The early morning was glorious and kingfishers darted in the water. This is a real jungle paradise!
How to find us.
There are three ways to get to Tutzil Nah Cottages:
Get on the bus heading south, rent a car or we'll pick you in Belize City or Belize Int'l airport.
One-way pick up price: 2 people - $105.00/person 3-6 people $85.00/person/
Dangriga airport- 2 people $28.00/person 3-6 people $22.00/person. Ask for family Rate.
